The Best Way to Repel Mosquitos
Known for ruining a good summertime barbeque and carrying diseases like the West Nile and Zika virus, mosquitoes are one of the worst pests. Warmer weather is right around the corner and unfortunately, we’re not the only ones who enjoy spending time outdoors during spring and summer. The good news is our team at Best Home & Property Services has come up with a few simple tips to help you repel these pests all season long!
Remove Standing Water
One of the most beneficial ways to prevent mosquitoes is by removing all standing water. Pests like mosquitoes love standing water because it’s where they can lay eggs. This includes removing things like birdbaths, fountains, ponds, and more. If you somehow can’t remove these sources, then it’s best to treat them often with a bug repellent.
Try Using Citronella Candles & Essential Oils
Using oils such as lavender, citronella, and lemongrass on your skin is another great way to repel mosquitoes. In most grocery stores and supermarkets, you can find citronella candles that are great for keeping mosquitoes away.
Have A Campfire
Campfire smoke is another great mosquito repellant. If you’re camping and can’t keep the fire burning all night, then try using a mesh door/curtain on your tent to help keep mosquitoes and other flying pests outside.
Invest in Bug Spray
As obvious as this sounds, bug spray is one of the best ways to avoid getting eaten alive by mosquitoes as the weather warms up. If you don’t have access to bug spray, baby oil is also a reliable mosquito repellent.
We hope these tips help you stay mosquito-bite free throughout the spring and summer months! If you or anyone you know has any other pest issue, in or around your home, don’t hesitate to give our team at Best Home and Property Services a call!
